Built in a 60 cm (about 24 in) format, this classic eagle backgammon set (nardi) offers two players a generous field, with the reverse side set up for draughts. The beech board is carved from a single piece, and an eagle is engraved into it.
Many countries place the eagle on their coats of arms, and on Armenia’s an eagle and a lion hold the shield. Considered a powerful and majestic bird, it makes a fitting emblem for backgammon, a game thought to be among the oldest board games in the world. Whether the set is opened in the dining room or in the study, the wide field leaves the dice plenty of room to roll.
