Two players at a living-room table, or a family that likes to keep a board within reach: this river epoxy backgammon set (nardi) is made for regular play. Its 60 cm (about 24 in) board, built to our classic pattern, is carved out of a single piece of walnut, with rivers engraved on both sides and filled with green epoxy resin.
Green resin stands in for the water in each engraved river, so the board reads almost like a landscape seen from above. Inside, the game itself is the familiar one: two players, two dice and a contest in which luck and judgement both count. Rivers and walnut together give the set a calm, outdoor character that suits a cottage or a reading room.
