- 25-year guarantee certificate
Measuring 50 cm (about 20 in), this classic chess set gives two players a generous board for home play, carved from one piece of beech wood with a straight grain. Its ornament is a zigzag lattice border, its playing field is expanded, and the letters and numbers are carved into the wood.
Between weekend games the closed board can wait on a sideboard or a shelf and come out onto the dining table when the players are ready. With an expanded playing field and carved coordinates, it serves serious practice as well as casual play: openings can be worked through from a book and positions recorded square by square. Nothing in chess is hidden or rolled, so each game is settled entirely across the board.
