In its 60 cm (about 24 in) format, this two-sided braid pattern backgammon set (nardi) is shaped from a single piece of walnut. Stylised braids are engraved on both of its faces, and the engraving is filled with epoxy resin.
A braid is built from strands that pass over and under one another; stylised, it becomes a steady rhythm of crossing lines. It is one of the workshop’s classic designs. When the board is open, two players have the usual field of twenty-four points in front of them. Its size suits a games table or a broad coffee table.
