In a study or a home office, this 50 cm (about 20 in) ornamental motif backgammon set (nardi) can wait on a shelf until the working day is over and a friend drops in for a game. Made of plywood and beech wood, the classic model has an Armenian ornamental motif engraved on one side.
The ornament belongs to a tradition in which variety is the rule: Armenian decoration works with a great number of motifs, types and forms. Its back is designed for checkers, for the evenings when nobody wants to roll dice. At 50 cm it opens on a desk without taking over the whole surface, and folds away again in a moment.
