An engraved ornament on one side sets the tone of this ornamental backgammon set (nardi), and a contour outline completes the design. The board, 60 cm (about 24 in) from side to side, is carved out of a single piece of beech.
Engraving works the ornament into the surface rather than adding it on top, so pattern and board are one and the same piece of wood. Long nardi and short nardi are both played on the same field, and its size leaves plenty of space for a relaxed match at the dining table. On the back, the board shows the squares of a draughts layout.
Every set is completely handcrafted and comes with a 25-year guarantee certificate. It suits a hallway console or a study, where it can be opened as soon as someone suggests a game.
