- 25-year guarantee certificate
A living-room table, two chairs and an hour to spare are all this chess set needs. Its 50 cm (about 20 in) board, with a contour outline, is carved in one piece from beech wood, and the letters and numbers on it are carved too.
Because the letters and numbers are carved rather than added, the board keeps to a single material, with letters, numbers and squares all in the same beech. That will please players who like wood throughout. The game itself is the classic one, with sixty-four squares, a king and fifteen other pieces on each side and nothing decided by chance, so the same board serves a child’s first lesson and a long match between seasoned players.
