Chess & Backgammon Set with Contour Outline, 40 cm – Model 31319

In a home where one player reaches for chess and another for backgammon, this chess and backgammon set (nardi) keeps both happy with a single board of 40 cm (about 16 in). It is carved out of one solid piece of beech wood. Its design rests on a contour outline, and carved letters and numbers label the chessboard.

Few games are thought to be older than backgammon, and logic is at its heart: a flexible mind, careful calculation of the order of moves and the knack of deciding quickly are what count. With chess in the same set, an evening can open with a few rounds of nardi and end with a game of chess, or the other way round.
