An engraved ornament of diamond motifs covers the entire surface around the playing field of this classic chess table. Made from a single piece of beech, the table is 60 x 60 x 63 cm (about 24 in); similar engraving continues over the drawers and down the legs, and repeated in this way, the diamond gives the whole piece of furniture a calm, regular rhythm.
Two of the table’s sides have drawers, which keep the chess figures close at hand between games. With a chess table the board is always out at sitting height, and a game can begin as soon as two people sit down.
