At 60 cm (about 24 in), this pomegranate backgammon set (nardi) with a contour outline gives two players a roomy field, and it is carved from one piece of beech. Pomegranates, signs of plenty and well-being, are engraved on one side of the board, while the other side is made ready for draughts.
In Armenia backgammon is commonly called nardi, and the pomegranate on this board is a motif from the same tradition. The decorated side shows pomegranates rather than a single fruit, and a contour outline belongs to the design as well. Kept on a low shelf, the set is ready for the moment a visitor asks for a game.
