Size is what sets this 60 cm (about 24 in) star-shaped chess set apart, and it belongs in a large living room, a library or a games room. Its board is carved from one beech blank, and at this size that means a substantial piece of wood.
Placed on a low table between two armchairs, the set is ready whenever two people feel like a game. Chess suits that kind of unhurried play, since there are no dice to wait for and no hidden information, only the position in front of both players. The large format also lets a third person follow the game comfortably from a nearby seat.
