Plywood and beech wood are combined in this 40 cm (about 16 in) ornamental motif backgammon set (nardi), one of our classic models. On one side it carries an engraved Armenian ornamental motif, and the compact format fits on a bookshelf between games.
That motif draws on Armenian ornament, whose variety of motifs, types and forms gives a carver plenty to choose from. Reverse the board and it becomes a checkers board. At 40 cm the set is easy to take along to a friend’s house, and it opens comfortably on a small table.
