Two players sitting either side of a coffee table can share this braid backgammon set (nardi), whose 60 cm (about 24 in) board has a contour outline. It is carved from a single piece of beech, and a braid pattern is engraved on one side as its ornament.
Long nardi and short nardi are both played on its field. When the backgammon is over, the back of the board hosts checkers (draughts), so the evening need not end with the last roll of the dice. Left out on the table between games, the set stays within reach for the next challenge.
