Just 9 cm tall and 7 cm across, this handmade wooden pomegranate is carved from beech and painted red. On one side, coloured corn kernels stand in for the seeds, so the little carving shows both the red outside of the fruit and what lies within.
In Armenian tradition the fruit stands for life and prosperity, for abundance and well-being, and that meaning has made the pomegranate a classic present and home decoration, given to wish someone well. This one fits on a desk or a bedside table and travels easily in a suitcase.
