- 25-year guarantee certificate
Carved from a single block of beech, whose fine, even texture suits detailed ornament, this eternity sign backgammon set (nardi) carries the sign together with floral scrolls and a lattice. At 60 cm (about 24 in), the board leaves plenty of room for play, and its reverse carries a grid for draughts.
A symbol of eternal life, the sign is also bound up with Armenian national identity; in stone it is carved on gravestones and on khachkars, the cross-stones of Armenian tradition. On this board the floral scrolls add curving plant forms and the lattice a regular criss-cross, so the engraving rewards a closer look between moves.
