Stylised tree forms decorate both sides of this 60 cm (about 24 in) walnut backgammon set (nardi). Each tree is engraved and then filled with epoxy resin, so every outline becomes a solid shape set into the wood.
A single piece of walnut forms the board, which is one of the classic models of our workshop. A tree motif on a wooden board has a quiet logic, since it points back to the material the set is made from. Backgammon itself is thought to be one of the world’s oldest board games.
