Measuring 60 cm (about 24 in), this classic lion backgammon set (nardi) is carved from one solid piece of beech, and a lion is engraved into the wood. It belongs to the classic models of our workshop, and the back of its board is laid out for checkers.
The lion has a firm place in Armenian pictography and heraldry: on the coat of arms of Armenia, a lion and an eagle support the shield. It stands for inspiration and courage, two qualities that come in handy when the dice turn against a player. On a coffee table in the living room, the board invites a match whenever two players have an evening to spare.
