The board of this bear backgammon set (nardi) with a contour outline is a roomy 60 x 60 x 3 cm (about 24 in), with space for two players to lay out their game comfortably. It is carved from one piece of beech, and one of its sides carries an engraved picture of a bear.
Long nardi or short nardi: in Armenia, where backgammon is commonly called nardi, both are played on the same board, and this one serves either. Turned over, it offers a third game, because the back is designed for checkers. Once the game is over, the engraved bear makes the set worth leaving out on a sideboard, a bookcase or a low table in the living room.
