Armenian ornament comes in a great many motifs, types and forms; on this snowflake backgammon set (nardi), it is represented by the snowflake engraved on one side of the board. With its arch-style outline, the 60 cm (about 24 in) board is cut from one piece of beech.
A snowflake makes a fitting motif for winter evenings spent at the board with family or friends, when one game of nardi easily turns into several. The back of the board has a layout of its own for checkers (draughts). Between matches, the set can rest on a coffee table by the window, ready for the next invitation to play.
