Round instead of square and 50 cm (about 20 in) across, this circular chess set gives two players a generous board in an unusual format. The whole board is carved from one piece of beech and decorated with an ornamental weave pattern, a motif that imitates interlacing strands.
The letters and numbers that label the squares are cast in bronze, which keeps the coordinates clear to read. At this size the pieces stand well apart, and anyone watching from across the table can follow the game with ease. On a round coffee table or a pedestal table, the board repeats the circle beneath it, and among square furniture its outline stands out.
