A round medallion and an arched frame accompany the eternity sign on this backgammon set (nardi), a motif that stands for eternal life and marks Armenian national identity. This classic model of ours is carved from one piece of beech, and the board is 60 cm (about 24 in) wide.
Some call it the sun cross; its arms, whose number is not fixed, whirl around the centre. Together with the medallion and the frame, the sign brings round and arched shapes into one composition. On the reverse, a field for draughts is laid out for anyone who wants a change of game.
