Standing 60 x 60 x 63 cm (about 24 in), this Lori carpet backgammon (nardi) table keeps a board set up for play in a living room, a study or a club room. It is made from one piece of beech and engraved with a picture of an Armenian Lori carpet.
Backgammon counts among the oldest games known, and as a contest of logic it favours a supple mind, exact reckoning of the order of moves and quick decisions. The cross-stone pattern is a typical feature of Armenian carpets, whose designs have held symbols and hidden meanings of their own since ancient times.
