Tree branch slices are the theme of this two-sided backgammon set (nardi): pieces of real branches, shown in cross-section and combined with epoxy resin on the surface of each side. Beneath them, the base is cut from one piece of beech wood and forms a board of 60 cm (about 24 in).
Wood is decorated with wood here, and epoxy resin completes the surface. The second side is decorated in the same way, which means the closed set looks finished whichever way it lies. Opened, the large board gives two players room to set out their checkers and play at ease.
