One piece of walnut wood is carved into the 50 cm (about 20 in) board of this rosette backgammon set (nardi). On one side, a rosette ornament is engraved and filled with blue epoxy resin, so the design stands out in colour against the wood.
A rosette is a round ornament arranged around its centre, and Armenian decorative art offers it alongside a wide choice of other motifs, types and forms. The design is one of our workshop’s classic models. On the back, the board is laid out for checkers (draughts), so a second game is always at hand.
