Riders and horse lovers will recognise the subject of this horse backgammon set (nardi) with a contour outline at a glance, since one side of the board shows an engraved picture of horses, while the other is laid out for checkers. Carved from one piece of beech, the board measures 60 cm (about 24 in).
Horses have always counted among the bravest, noblest and most graceful of animals. For families who play at weekends, the board offers room for long afternoons of nardi, and between games the engraved horses make it a fine piece of décor in a hallway or a living room.
