At 40 cm (about 16 in), this chess and backgammon set (nardi) is large enough for relaxed play and small enough to keep on a bookshelf between games, and its board is carved from one piece of beech. Its border is an engraved braid with a woven look, and bronze studs add touches of metal to the wood.
