Carved from one block of beech, this small classic chess set measures 30 cm (about 12 in) and has a border set with dotted inlay. Within that border the playing field is expanded, and carved letters and numbers run along its edges.
Beech is a hard, dense wood, a sound base for both the carving and the inlaid dots of the border. At this size the set stays within reach on a desk, a windowsill or a bedside table, ready for a quick game or for working through a chess puzzle.
