Large enough for unhurried games, this classic white openwork ornament backgammon set (nardi) is 60 cm (about 24 in) across and cut in one piece from beech. Its engraving, on one side, is a white openwork Armenian ornament.
The design is one example from the broad repertoire of Armenian ornament, rich in motifs, types and forms. The game itself needs only two players and two dice, which makes it easy to start on any evening. Once the backgammon is finished, its back becomes a draughts board for whoever wants one more game.
