The horse has always been seen as one of the bravest, noblest and most graceful of animals, and it is the theme of this classic horse backgammon set (nardi). Its 60 cm (about 24 in) board belongs to our classic models and is carved from a single piece of beech.
Straight-grained beech gives the horse motif a calm background. The game itself rewards both luck with the dice and good judgement, which keeps evenings of play lively and open to the end. In a country house or a family living room, the set is as much part of the furnishings as it is a game, and its back, designed for checkers, adds a second one to the evening.
