“Violin Girl”, a hand-carved wooden sculpture, would look at home in the foyer of a music school or in the room of a young violinist, where the figure can be seen every day on the way to practice. It measures 20 x 12 x 83 cm and is made from a single piece of linden, entirely by hand.
Linden shows its grain and colour openly, and these change with each block of wood, so no two violin girls look quite the same. For a pupil who has kept up the lessons, a teacher who has heard years of scales, or parents who have listened to every practice session, the figure is a reminder of the hours behind the music.
