    Working from one block of linden, a fine-grained wood with an even texture, the carver shaped the wooden sculpture “Sitting Model” entirely by hand. Carving a whole figure from a single block means nothing can be added later: every line of the seated pose had to be found within the wood. The finished piece measures 43 x 22 x 12 cm.

    Grain and tone are the linden’s own and vary from piece to piece, which gives every carving of the model an individual look. In an artist’s studio, a study or a bedroom, the seated figure brings in a note of figurative art, and on a bookcase it sits comfortably between catalogues and sketchbooks.
