A wolf among the trees of a forest is the scene engraved on this classic wolf backgammon set (nardi), and the animal symbolises strength, confidence, endurance and freedom. Its board, 60 cm (about 24 in) on each side, is carved from one piece of beech.
The forest scene brings the outdoors to the games table and suits a country house or a mountain lodge. On a winter evening by the fire, the board has room for long, relaxed games between two players, each guiding fifteen checkers home. In summer, a garden table under the trees works just as well. For anyone who prefers draughts, the back of the board is designed for that game.
