Solid beech, carved from one block into a 60 cm (about 24 in) board, forms this snowflake backgammon set (nardi) with a contour outline. One side of the board bears an engraved snowflake ornament.
With two players seated opposite each other at a proper table, there is still room beside the board for a pot of tea. The large field keeps the play calm and easy to follow, even for someone watching over a shoulder. Checkers (draughts) has its place on the back of the board, for evenings when the dice can rest.
