Made for a home where board games are played often and natural materials are valued, this two-sided walnut backgammon set (nardi) uses walnut twice. The 60 cm (about 24 in) board, an original model of our workshop, is cut from a single piece of walnut wood, and walnut shell, filled with epoxy resin, decorates its surface.
Walnut shell is an unusual material to find on a game board, and it ties the decoration to the timber of the board itself, since both come from the walnut. By most accounts, few board games are as old as backgammon, and this set gives the old game a contemporary surface. It suits a family living room, a study or a holiday home where games come out in the evening.
