Built around a 60 cm (about 24 in) board of beech wood, this eternity sign backgammon set (nardi) combines the Armenian sign of eternity with bronze details, so wood and metal meet in a single design. The size suits a dining table or a large coffee table, with space for two players to sit opposite each other.
Arevakhach is the sign’s Armenian name. Medieval Armenian culture linked it with eternal, heavenly life, and it remains one of the most common motifs in Armenian architecture, carved on khachkars, the cross-stones raised as memorials and to mark events. Here it appears on a game board, where it is seen at every match.
