This handmade backgammon set (nardi) is carved from a single piece of walnut wood, with a 60 cm board, featuring the Armenian alphabet.
The Armenian alphabet, created by Mesrop Mashtots in 405, is engraved on the board. Each letter stands for a word, and together they read as a prayer that begins with the word Creator and ends with the word Christ. Parts of the design are filled with epoxy resin, which adds depth and color.
The reverse side is laid out for checkers (draughts).
