It is carved from a single block of beech and carries the copyrighted outline of Mount Ararat. Its chessboard letters and numbers are carved, not applied.

The same mountain appears on Armenia’s coat of arms, whose central shield shows Ararat together with Noah’s Ark. Backgammon itself is believed to be one of the oldest games played anywhere; it turns on logic, on a flexible mind, sound calculation of several moves ahead and a readiness to decide quickly. In Armenia the game is usually called nardi, and this board serves for long nardi as well as short nardi.

Product details

Size: 50 x 50 x 3 cm

Material: Beech wood

Design: Mount Ararat outline

Finish: Varnished

Hardware: Cast bronze hinges and locks; carved letters and numbers

Weight: 4 kg (5.5 kg packed)

Brand: Hrachya Ohanyan

Model: 31105

What's included

32 chess pieces and 32 backgammon checkers in beech and walnut wood, each with a velvet-lined base

Dice made from billiard balls

Branded carry case with wooden handle

Every set is completely handcrafted and comes with a 25-year guarantee certificate.
